Salon en el Aire is a flexible, 70-square-meter dining and leisure space created for the workers at a cheese factory in Pifo, Ecuador. The project was developed to bridge the gap between the industrial nature of the factory and the surrounding natural landscape, providing a space for rest, relaxation, and connection with the environment. The design features a fire-treated pine wood exterior, which minimizes maintenance, and a lightweight fiber-cement roof that will eventually be shaded by plants grown in rooftop planters. Large reflective glass panels allow natural light and ventilation to enter, while the structure, supported by four iron rings, eliminates the need for columns, offering an open, adaptable space. This versatile building can easily transform from a dining area into a meeting or projection space, fulfilling the workers' needs for both functionality and comfort.
